A Brief Timeline of the Life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Martin Luther King was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia
- 1948– King graduated with a BA degree in sociology form MORE HOUSE COLLEGE at the age of 19.
1951– He graduated with a B Div. degree from Crozer Theological Seminary.
1953– In Heiberger Alabama on June 18, 1953, He marries to Coretta Scott.
1955– At Boston University on June 6, 1955, Dr. King Receives his Ph.D. degree in systematic theology.
Dr. King leads the 385 day Boycott- suffering arrest and a house bombing, which resulted in the End of racial segregation on all Montgomery public buses.
- 1958– A mentally ill woman slashed Dr. king in the Chest during a book signing at a Harlem Department.
1963– He was named Man of the Year by Time magazine in 1963; In the same year he got arrested for the 13th time during the Bermingham campaign and wrote his famous inspiring “LETTER FROM BERMINGHAM JAIL”, the proclamation of the Negro revolution.
August 28, 1963- Dr. King delivered his iconic speech to 250,000 people on the steps of LINCOLN MEMORIAL during peaceful march Washington DC.
Dr. King received the Nobel Prize at the age of 30 and became the youngest man to receive this award. after being notified about his selection he announced that would turn over the prize money of $54,123 to the furtherance of the civil rights movement.
On March 25, 1965, during the March from Selma to Montgomery, Dr. King announces-“THE ARC OF THE MORAL UNIVERSE IS LONG BUT IT BENDS TOWARDS JUSTICE”
On April 04, 1968 Dr. King was assassinated while standing in the Motel Lorraine balcony in Memphis, TN.
