Apple Teams Up With Aetna on New Health Reward App
The two companies have dubbed the new app Attain.
They have been working together since 2016 on the app which will finally be available in the spring of this year.
The app observes and rewards users of the iPhone and apple watch who are engaged/involved in healthy behaviors like getting more hours of sleep and regular exercise.
Aetna members who sign up with nudges, also receive reminders to get an annual flu shot or take their medication on time.
Goals and rewards from the app are intended to be customized for each specific individual.
Aetna users with an Apple Watch can earn back the cost of the latest series 4 device over two years by meeting fitness goals created by Attain.
According to Aetna members can also notify its customer service team if they have any health issue, such as surgery or pregnancy, that might prevent them from meeting their goals.
Apple has put health care in a key position for its future growth.
Apple’s CEO Tim Cook told CNBC’s, Jim Cramer: “I believe if you zoom out into the future, and you look back, and you ask the question, “What was Apple’s greatest contribution to mankind?” It will be about health.”
