‘Avengers: Endgame’ Destroys Box Office With $1.2 Billion Opening
‘Avengers: Endgame’ is finally out in theaters and the movie in the Marvel cinematic universe has just shattered a box office record.
Endgame smashed the record built up one-year ago by its antecedent Avengers: Infinity War, which opened with $250 million.
According to geek.com the Disney blockbuster, the 22nd offering in the Marvel Studios superhero franchise has become the fastest film ever to break the 1 billion dollar barrier doing so in just 5 days.
The highly anticipated Marvel movie has also broken a 144 box office records and seen 1.2 billion dollars in sales in its’ opening weekend internationally.
That Figure includes $350M from North America. ‘The Wrap’ has tallied 144 different box office records that endgame has broken since tickets first went on sale at the start of April including advance ticket sales, premium formats and opening day and weekend records in countries around the world.
Indeed, even after Infinity War’s release, The Fate of the Furious, somehow kept its film industry record for remote opening end of the week with $443 million; Endgame also obliterated that record, getting $859 million abroad, including a mammoth $330 million opening end of the week in China.
