Captain Marvel Star Brie Larson Has a Strong Stance on the Gender Pay Gap.
Larson discussed the gender wage gap at the recent ‘Women in the World’ summit in New York City.
She recently made her superhero debut in ‘Captain Marvel’ and received a hefty $5 million paycheck.
That’s far more than her fellow MCU stars Robert Downey Jr. or Chadwick Boseman earned for their first solo films as Iron man and Back panther respectively.
She commented that money is a precarious subject, as ladies are used to regularly accepting less than they deserve.
“Its this thing that people think is super-icky-and that’s the trap. The trap is they make you feel icky about it so that you don’t ask for what you deserve-because you know what the number is inside.” -Brie Larson, via ‘Vanity Fair’
Actress and singer- Larson gave credit to previous women in the industry as being the reason she’s able to earn such a high salary.
She also encouraged women everywhere to be brave and fight for the pay they deserve.
“Do it for the women that are gonna come after you…Do it for the future you, and if that can give you a little bit more of a stir and a fight, then do it. We need you.”-Brie Larson, via ‘Vanity Fair’
