‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Release Delayed 3 Months Due to Character Design Backlash
The recent fan-outcry over Sonic the Hedgehog’s live-action character design will keep us waiting a little longer for the movie to hit the big screen.
The original release date of November 8, 2019, is now pushed ahead in order to “fix” Sonic’s look.
Paramount Pictures confirmed that the movie will hit theatres on February 14, Valentines Day 2020.
Director Jeff Fowler tweeted, “Taking a little more time to make Sonic just right.”

This move comes after the release of film’s first trailer in April. The trailer received a huge wave of internet backlash, with many fans complaining about the beloved hedgehog’s design.
The look of the classic videogame character in the trailer was widely criticized online. This prompted Fowler and his team to re-think Sonic’s character design to make him the best he can be.
The movie stars Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic and also stars James Marsden and Jim Carrey in live-action roles.
