The Obamas Sign Multiyear Podcast Deal With Spotify
It feels like everyone is getting in the podcast craze these days and now we can add the Obamas to our favorites list.
The latest on the Spotify podcast is, the former president Barack Obama and wife Michelle Obama are jumping in the podcast game.
The Obamas are expanding their media domain with a multiyear deal with Spotify to create podcasts that will be exclusive to the audio service.
This multi-year deal will allow them to develop, produce and lend their voices to select shows for Spotify.
According to Spotify, the programming will encompass “a diverse slate of original podcasts.”
This partnership comes through their Higher Ground production banner which is already in business with Netflix, working on a number of projects including scripted, un-scripted documentaries and movies.
Barack Obama released a statement regarding the deal saying, “We’ve always believed in the value of entertaining, thought-provoking conversation,” President Obama said in a statement provided by Spotify. “It helps us build connections with each other and open ourselves up to new ideas. We’re excited about Higher Ground Audio because podcasts offer an extraordinary opportunity to foster productive dialogue, make people smile and make people think, and, hopefully, bring us all a little closer together.”
The chief content officer of Spotify, Dawn Ostroff said, “President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are two of the world’s most important voices and it is a privilege to be working with them to identify and share stories that will inspire our global audience, which looks to Spotify for unique, breakthrough content.”
